Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 13, 2026

1. Introduction

Happy Hour Radar ("App") is operated by Moonshinerxwerks LLC ("we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and web dashboard. By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide:

  • Account information: Display name, email address, and phone number (if you choose to verify your phone).
  • Profile photo: Optional avatar image you upload.
  • User-generated content: Venue ratings, reviews, comments, crowd density reports, and group plan details.
  • Venue owner information: Business name, email, venue details, deals, and announcements submitted through the venue dashboard.

Information collected automatically:

  • Location data: With your permission, we access your device's location to show nearby venues and sort by distance. We also derive your city and state from your coordinates using on-device reverse geocoding. Your derived city and state are stored in your user profile to enable regional content and aggregated analytics.
  • Device and platform information: Device model (e.g. iPhone, iPad), platform type (e.g. iOS, Android), operating system version, app version, and build number. This data is stored in your user profile and used for compatibility, debugging, and aggregated usage analytics.
  • Usage data: Pages visited, features used, and interaction patterns to improve the App experience.
  • Push notification tokens: Firebase Cloud Messaging tokens used to deliver notifications you have opted into.
  • Crash reports: Crash logs and performance diagnostics to identify and fix issues.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the App and its features.
  • Display nearby venues, deals, and happy hour information.
  • Enable social features such as group plans and friend invitations.
  • Show ratings, reviews, and crowd density reports to other users.
  • Send notifications about deals, plan updates, and venue announcements (with your permission).
  • Verify phone numbers for account security and plan invitations.
  • Enable venue owners to manage their listings through the dashboard.
  • Respond to customer support inquiries and feedback.
  • Monitor and analyze usage trends to improve the App.
  • Generate aggregated, anonymized analytics about App usage by region and platform to improve our service and guide expansion to new markets.

4. Information Sharing

We share your information in the following ways:

  • Public content: Your ratings, reviews, and crowd reports are displayed anonymously to other App users and venue owners. Your identity is not attached to this content.
  • Group plans: Your name, RSVP status, and messages are visible to other members of group plans you join.
  • Venue owners: Venue owners can see aggregated ratings, anonymous reviews, and visit counts for their venue through the dashboard. They cannot see reviewer names, visitor names, your email, phone number, or location.
  • Service providers: We use Firebase (Google) for authentication, data storage, and cloud messaging. Your data is subject to Google's privacy policies.
  • Legal requirements: We may disclose your information if required by law or in response to valid legal process.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.

5. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored in Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore) servers located in the United States. We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS) and Firebase Authentication security.

While we strive to protect your information, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Location Data

The App requests access to your device's location ("When In Use" permission) to:

  • Find and display nearby venues.
  • Sort venues by distance from your current location.
  • Verify crowd density reports are submitted from the venue location.
  • Calculate drive times for departure reminders.
  • Derive your city and state via on-device reverse geocoding, which is stored in your user profile for regional analytics and localized content delivery.

Reverse geocoding is performed locally on your device using Apple's CLGeocoder API. Only the resulting city and state names are transmitted to our servers — your precise coordinates are not stored on our servers for this purpose. You can revoke location access at any time through your device settings. The App will still function with limited features without location access.

7. Notifications

With your permission, we may send push notifications about:

  • Happy hour deals at nearby or favorited venues.
  • Deal changes at venues you've subscribed to.
  • Group plan invitations and updates.
  • Venue announcements from claimed venues.
  • Departure time reminders.

You can disable notifications at any time through your device settings or in the App's settings.

8. Your Rights & Choices

You have the following rights regarding your data:

  • Access: You can view your profile information, ratings, and plans within the App.
  • Update: You can edit your display name, email, phone number, and profile photo at any time.
  • Delete: You can request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us at the email below.
  • Location: You can revoke location permissions through your device settings at any time.
  • Notifications: You can disable push notifications through your device settings.
  • Contacts: You can revoke contacts access (used for plan invitations) through your device settings.

9. Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 21, as it involves information about alcoholic beverage services. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 21. If we learn that we have collected personal information from someone under 21, we will take steps to delete that information.

10. Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services:

  • Firebase (Google): Authentication, Cloud Firestore (database), Cloud Storage (images), and Cloud Messaging (notifications).
  • Apple MapKit: Map display and venue location services.
  • Apple CLGeocoder: On-device reverse geocoding to derive city and state from location coordinates.
  • Netlify: Web dashboard hosting.

These services have their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review them.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy in the App or on our website. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
